Septic Tank Percolation Tests
If you are planning on installing a soak away or drain field for your septic tank system here are a few things you will need to do:
- Inform the Environment Agency and complete a license document.
- Get planning permission from your local authority.
- Get a copy of the Approved Document H - Drainage and Waste Disposal.
A percolation test is carried out to determine the soakage rate of soil. The results of the Percolation Test are used to calculate the size of the percolation area.
Several factors are taken into account when completing the percolation test and you need to contact our office to discuss these.
All Percolation Tests are carried out in Accordance with the EPA Code Of Practice 2009 – Wastewater Treatment and Disposal Systems Serving Single Houses (p.e < 10).
We can provide a digger to excavate the trial holes and we can also provide water for testing. Additional charges will apply for these.
